Salvation through the Tzaddik
HOW TO GET ON A FLIGHT WITHOUT A PASSPORT?
A group of Avrechim from Bet Shemesh organized a trip to Europe to visit Kivrai Tzaddikim. On Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan they arrived at the Kever of the Sainlty Admor Rebbe Yeshaya of Kraeastir and poured out their hearts in prayer for the sake of individuals and the community.
After several days of intense dovening at the KIvrai Gedolai Yisrael the group began their journey back to Eretz HaKodesh to prepare for the holiday of Shavuos. When they arrived at the airport before their flight back to Israel HaRav Shimon Dushinsky checked his belongings and discovered that his passport was missing. It was nowhere to be found – not in his pockets, not in his carry-on, not in his luggage. He even checked his shoes but could not find it anywhere. The hotel where he stayed was more than seven hours away. If he would return to look for it there he would surely miss his flight to Eretz Yisrael.
The group of Avrecheim decided put to their faith and trust in the word of the Tzaddik of Kraeastir. They had just recently been at his Kever and now depended on him to help insure that there would be a positive resolution to this situation.
Twenty minutes before the entrance to the flight was to be closed the group of Avrecheim approached the flight attendants and requested that HaRav Shimon be allowed to board the flight without a passport. As would be expected, they received a very clear negative response to their request. Several tense moments passed filled with pleading and explanations, and then one Avrech asked if Rav Shimon had any other form of identification. Out came his Teudat Zehut (Israeli Identity Card), however, after a brief discussion, this too was rejected as an alternative to a passport.
“All the other Avrechim had already boarded the flight,” Rav Shimon explained. “I alone remained in the terminal. I had already decided to get directions to the Israeli Embassy in Budapest and to inquire how to get a new passport. My fellow Avrechim had given me a phone and additional cash. At that point I made a promise that if somehow I was allowed on the flight that I would make a Siyyum Shas Misnayos לעילוי נשמת ר’ ישיעלה (to raise the Neshama of Rebbe Yeshaya). I believed with Emunah Shelayma that whatever happened was for the best.”
At that very same moment the flight attendants were about to close the gate and have the plane make final preparations for takeoff, leaving Rav Shimon to spend Chag Matan Torahsanu in Hungary far from his family and community. Suddenly a senior airport official appeared and requested to see HaRav Shimon and asked to see his ticket and papers. Immediately this official took matters into his own hands and cleared Rav Shimon to board the plane. The fights attendants then quickly accompanied Rav Shimon aboard the flight and he was on his way back home to the Holy Land.
Salvation from Heaven! It is worthwhile to rely on Rebbe Yeshaya of Kraeastir.
